Cohen Recipes — Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Cohen Recipes ("the app", "we") is a private, family recipe-vault application for Android and web, operated privately by the Cohen family — not a commercial service. Contact: privacy@cohenrecipes.com.

2. Who can use it

• Contributing (adding/editing recipes, comments, lists) is limited to invited family members.
• Viewing is available to anyone who signs in with a Google account, in read-only mode. Read-only users can browse recipes but do not see contributors' names or comments.

3. What we collect

• Account information (via Google Sign-In): your name, email address, and Google account identifier — used only to sign you in and attribute your contributions. We do not access your Google contacts, files, or other Google data.
• Content you create or save: recipes (titles, ingredients, steps, source links, tags), photos you upload, comments and ratings, and your personal lists.
• Content from links you share: when you save a recipe from a web page, Instagram, or YouTube link, we fetch that page's public content to extract the recipe.
• Technical data: standard request/diagnostic logs from our hosting provider, used to operate and secure the service.

4. How we use your data

To store and display your recipes, photos, comments, and lists; to authenticate you and attribute contributions within the family; to extract and translate recipes using AI (see §5); and to operate and secure the service. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it for anything beyond running the app.

5. Third parties that process data (sub-processors)

• Google — sign-in / authentication.
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — recipe **text and links you provide are sent to Anthropic's API** to extract structured recipes and translate them between Hebrew and English. Please don't put sensitive personal information into recipe text.
• Apify and the YouTube Data API — to retrieve the public content of Instagram/YouTube links you choose to save.
• Cloudflare — hosting, database, image storage, and security.

These providers process data only to perform these functions; we share your data with no one else.

6. Visibility within the app

Cohen Recipes is a shared family vault. Recipes, photos, family-visible lists, comments, and the name of who added or edited content are visible to other family members. Read-only (non-family) viewers see recipes but not contributor names or comments. Nothing is publicly accessible without signing in.

7. Data retention

Recipes and content are kept until deleted. Deleted recipes may be held briefly in an internal archive (so they can be restored) before permanent removal. Uploaded images are stored until their recipe is deleted and purged. Operational logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

8. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our hosting provider. Access is restricted to signed-in users; contributing is limited to invited family members; access can be revoked at any time.

9. Children

The app is intended for adults and family use. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under the age required by applicable law.

10. Your choices and rights

You can stop using the app and revoke its access to your Google account from your Google account settings at any time. You can request deletion of your account data (contributions, comments, lists, and account record) by contacting us at privacy@cohenrecipes.com.

We may update this policy; material changes will appear here with a new "Last updated" date.
